Youth Conference was July 9-11, 2009 in Mitchell, Oregon. We got up at 5:30am to meet at the church and drive out. The youth all drove in a bus and Scott and I rode with our friends, Ryan and Demaris. When we got to Mitchell all the youth had to load the gear into handcarts and push them to wear we were staying. Over the next few days the youth had various activities that they could participate in. They could do horse back riding, archery, dutch oven cooking, "extreme" shelter making or black powder and tomahawk throwing. We got to help with black powder and tomahawks. Demaris's dad was in charge of black powder and has all these cool pioneer things. So Demaris and I got to dress in our cool pioneer dresses, which were actually very cool too wear. It was really neat to see the youth and how they chose to participate. The last morning there we had a testimony meeting. The youth had the opportunity to share their feelings. Being a leader can be very frustrating at times, but when you have experiences like this and the youth share their testimonies and you realize they they get it, it is very inspiring. They are realizing what life is really about and what is really important. We had a great time and Scott and I, exhausting as the weekend was, really enjoyed ourselves.

Great pictures. Can you email me the one of Scott pulling the handcart. Lacey did not get very many pictures and I would love any that her or Scott are in.
